Hi there everyone.
My partner and I are thinking of a weekend trip to Paris in November.
It%26#39;s going to be a little treat for ourselves however we need it to be a fairly budget trip (seeing as Christmas will be approaching and all the expense that that brings)
The Eurostar is only costing us £59 each return. Therefore I need tips for the following:
1) A cheap and cheerful hotel or guesthouse in a good central location / lively walkable area. It certainly doesn%26#39;t have to be flash. But somewhere with a bit of character would be good. (and also somewhere that 2 men sharing a room won%26#39;t cause too many raised eyebrows)
2) Cheap places to eat. All cuisines ok. Are there any bring your own alcohol places?
3) Tips on getting the cheapest transport around Paris and cheap museum entrance fee%26#39;s.
To give you an idea. I live in London and must people think that London would be incredibly expensive for a visitor. However i know that many museums are free entry, other museums you can get 2 for 1 entry. That an Oyster card is the cheapest way to travel. I know of good central places to eat for £10 a head ( or less)
So Paris forum....can you help me out?
Many thanks

When I was younger, and doing Paris on a tight budget, I found an invaluable little book called %26quot;Paris for Paupers%26quot;. It%26#39;s probably a little out of date now but does have some great ideas on how to have a good time for not much money. You may be able to get a cheap copy on Amazon or abebooks.

Suggets you try the Antin Trinite - a 2 star behind Galaries lafayette - do a search on travelsupermarket.co.uk to get the cheapest rate when you plan to go - ASDA were the cheapest for my dates .
Try Chartier for a cheap eat - looks luxourious and is a listed building but is dirt cheap for a meal out - otherwise buy from delis or sandwich shops .
Get a carnet - 10 tickets for the metro and bus - depending on how long you are there one should be enough between you . Plan you days out so that you walk to most places and just get a metro back to the hotel .
Musee Carnavalet , museum of modern art and sme others are free all the time - need to check the guidebooks- others are free the first Sunday in the month .
Unless you are set on going up the Eiffel tower - dont bither - if you want a cheaper aerial view of Paris go up the Tour Monparnasse

Much information you seek is already here on the forum. Please try the search function for the forum, using
%26quot;free museums%26quot;
%26quot;budget hotel%26quot;
%26quot;metro pass%26quot;
etc.
I don%26#39;t know of any %26quot;2 for 1%26quot; type of deals.
Here is a useful page for comparing transport ticket prices:

I%26#39;ve got a bunch of inexpensive and good lodging/dining recommendations in my Paris guide.
The guide is free, you can download it immediately, there are no advertisements or promotions.

Pixfield - that%26#39;s a really useful guide for Paris first timers. Thank you, I%26#39;ve made a note of the URL for next time someone asks me about Paris.
