Cap d agde Rentals

Having just returned from cap d agde I feel I must warn of the deplorable accomodation offered to you in the naturist quarters. Having read of the low standards of the French owned appartments we went with a private british operator who claims to have refurbed all units offered. No way. Apart from basic 20 year old bathrooms etc the places are basically filthly and the attitude seems to be %26quot;well it is a naturist resort so this is ok%26quot; Maybe some naturists do not mind paying £600 a week for squalor but why should these operators get away with it. I suggest you go to a larger company like Peng etc who have some reputation to uphold. Keep away from the smaller british operators on the net.

Like anywhere you get what you pay for!

Before we bought our own flat in Port Venus, we used the french agents - genevieve naturisme as well as rene oltra and have variable experience in the quality of the flats. The best idea is to call the agents and make it clear you want a clean well furnished flat and they will usually offer you a better flat (although at a premium price).

The Hotel Eve offers good quality rooms and villas and we have often stayed there. For top quality luxury - stay at the new hotel Le Jardin D%26#39;Eden - it is excellent.

We too have just arrived home from Cap d%26#39;Agde and have to say that we were less than impressed with our accommodation and the agent.

We booked with Resid having checked them out online and as (it seemed) they were a well established agency, didn%26#39;t imagine that we would be treated like dirt just because we are English. Upon arrival at the Resid office, we were embarrassed by the receptionist who actually reeled back when we told her we speak only a little french. She was then rude to us the whole time. Even upon checking out she had a bad attitude with us Their property which they described as %26quot;very nice%26quot; was actually a shed and in dire need of renovation. What the author said about 20 year old bathrooms is not a joke! The towels they gave us were tatty...we have tea towels at home that are bigger, no joke!

Having spoken to a lot of people in Cap, we were told that the agencies to go with are Sylviane Byll (we visited their office whilst in Cap) AGN (or genevievenaturisme.com) and Peng. We have been inside some of their apartments and can honestly say that they have been renovated to fabulous standards. We will definitely be booking with one of these agencies next year and if you want our opinion, stay away from Resid ...they are a disgrace and charge more than the other three mentioned agencies for poor properties and very poor service.

All of the property in the Village Naturiste is privately owned, so the letting offices have little incentive, or ability, to impose higher standards. Add this to the seeming endless supply of customers attracted to here and the agents see no commercial reason why they should improve. Consequently, all of the main rental agencies have some sub-standard places on their books and Resid is not alone in providing poor service. I do hope you now know that when booking you really should stipulate precisely which apartment you want to rent. Especially since your “…. renovated to fabulous standards.” only applies to a minority of places.

Luckily, we were given a map of properties in the resort by one of the other French agents. We were advised to go and walk past them to see whether they were suitable and upon booking, be specific about the property name/number of interest.

You have to actually visit Cap to learn these things...booking a naturist holiday online is not always as straight forward as say, booking a regular package holiday/city break. You really need to know the properties before booking or you could end up like the author and ourselves with a %26#39;squalor%26#39; situation.

You live and learn...regardless, we still had a fabulous time and will return next summer.
