Where to stay in Burgundy

We are going to Burgundy in September for 3 nights. The places we wanted to stay are booked, Le Cep, Hostellerie Levernois. Should we stay in Beaune or out in the country at a B %26amp; B or Chateau. This is our 30th wedding anniversary trip. We would like something charming and romantic and very nice. Also, do we need to arrange appointments at cellars or wineries. Should we arrange a Tour? Where should we eat? Thanks.

Here is a romantic location with a restaurant:

Providing you have a car, then you can stay outside of Beaune, especially as you can%26#39;t get into Le Cep - you should find more relaxing, charming and romantic places to stay outside.

September is a very busy month in Burgundy with people wanting to view harvest etc.

You could try one of the following two top hotels recommended by the local writer for www.winetravelguides.com.

Abbaye de la Bussière sur Ouche (www.abbaye-dela-bussiere.com) - 20km from Nuits Saint Georges with 10 rooms in a renovated abbey plus good restaurant and bistrot.

Hotel Château de Gilly near Vougeot (www.chateau-gilly.com), another ancient abbey with two restaurants.

If you are outside Beaune, then you might want to drive into Beaune for one evening and eat at one of the many good restaurants there (see Beaune forum).

You can do your own wine tasting tour if you have a car - best to make an appointment with anyone specific you want to visit and might be difficult in some places if you coincide with harvest.

Enjoy your anniversary in this beautiful wine area.
