Backpacks in Paris

Hi, just wondering if there are many places in Paris that do not allow you to bring your backpack in. I heard that some places do not allow you to enter with a backpack. Is this true and do these places have lockers where you can lock up your backpack?

The only place they made us check our backpacks was at the Museum of Decorative Arts (but others were carrying theirs), we carried it at the Orsay, Versailles, Invalides and Notre Dame. I would assume that any place that doesn%26#39;t allow you to carry one would have a place to check it.
