It just seems to me as if you are trying to do WAY too much in a very short time in the south of France. Perhaps you sould consider doing less but seeing more, and by that, I am suggesting that you spend at least 4 (maybe all 5) nights in Western Provence prior to departing from Nice.

I assume that you will have a car during the entire duration of your stay, and, if so you will be able to visit all of the places that you have mentioned BUT your timing as you have set it out may not be that good. Accordingly:

A) Don%26#39;t know RIck Steve%26#39;s Avignon Walk, but I do know that the important places in Avignon are easily visited (Palais des Papes and the Musee du Petit Palais followed by a wonderful lunch at either La Fourchette or le Moutardier.

A) Do not think that you want to check into the B%26amp;B in St Remy @ 4 PM Tuesday and plan on visiting Arles @ 6PM. Why? Because it%26#39;s a bit of a drive and by 6 PM most of the significant historical sites will be closed or closing for the day.

B) On Wednesday, if you want to visit a vinyard for tasting after you have visited Les Baux, I would suggest Mas de la Dame which is situated at the base of Les Baux or Mas de Gorgonniers (hope my spelling is even close - don%26#39;t have a bottle close at hand) down the road, heading toward Mouries. We have been staying in Maussane for ages and frankly, I cannot recall the Saragan winery.

C) You might want to consider going up to Nyons on Thursday the 4th and doing the market there prior to wending your way back to St Remy via the vinyards in the Southern part of the Cotes-du-Rhone -- it%26#39;s beautiful AND you will probably get to see some of the vendange (wine harvest). While Vaison has wonderful Roman Ruins andIsle-sur-la-Sorgue is wonderful on Sundays, neither is a %26quot;destination%26quot; point on a Friday.

If you do decide to stay West for a few more days I would suggest that you consider going up to the Saturday market in Apt on Saturday and then exploring the Luberon and, then on Sunday, heading up to Isle-sur-la-Sorgue early for what may be one of the most extraordinary markets in all of France.

Hope that this is of some use as you continue to plan your vacation.

I have yet to read someone%26#39;s proposed itinerary posted on this forum that wasn%26#39;t more idealistic than it was realistic. After this, you%26#39;ll need a vacation just to recover from the hectic pace of this vacation.

Drop Nice and go there when you have more time. Spend 5 nights in Paris (your first day will be lost to travel fatigue and time zone adjustments anyway) and 4 nights in Provence.

I assume you%26#39;ll be renting a car and taking the TGV to Avignon. You do not have enough time to try to see these things using public transportation. It%26#39;s available but very time consuming as a mode of travel.
