chateau isle marie

hi

i booked a few nights at chateau isle marie outside bayeux in september. It looks beautiful from its pictures and description (im trying to impress my wife for a change) but is quite expensive.......most of the TA review are excellent up until the most recent ones.

has anyone stayed there.......and is it worth it.....

thanks for any help you can provide.

We have not stayed there, but I do know where it is. I would not say it is %26quot;outside Bayeux%26quot;, as it is probably a good 30 miles from there, and rather isolated - it%26#39;s long drive to go and get a decent meal. Closer to Bayeux, and very impressive - albeit in the middle of nowhere too - is the Chateau de Colombieres. And the Chateau de Sully - 4 miles from Bayeux, is nice too - not as striking, but with a good restaurant.

Chateau Sully is pretty pricey though, 170 euros for a standard double, 190 euros for a superior room and then there%26#39;s breakfast on top.

|||

yeah.....isle marie is 195 for double room....dont mind payin the money if it is worth it.....waiting to hear back from colombieres with regard to price.

I thought they weren%26#39;t trading this year.

They are a good half hour drive from Bayeux, far closer to St Mere Eglise.

You can%26#39;t eat there apart from breakfast unless you self cater, this is a problem with most of the chateaux in the area.

www.normandy-battlefields.com can provide a full %26quot;hotel%26quot; service, the battlefield tours aren%26#39;t compulsory

|||

yeah i know its a bit of a problem eating out whan you stay at the chateau....dont mind for 2 nights though. actually cancelled my booking at isle marie.....going to chateau de colombieres now if you know it. seems lovely

thanks for the info tho.....and if you have any knowledge of chateau de colombieres (outside bayeaux i think) please share!

I think Petesmum only has info on chateau-beaulieu or normandy-battlefields. I wonder if Pete owns the two? They are the only subject she writes positively about.
