Going to the top of the Arc de Triomphe

Would be interested to hear any opinions on going to the top of the Arc de Triomphe for the view.

Thanks for any advice!

It%26#39;s my favorite view over Paris, any time of day or year. Don%26#39;t miss it!

|||

Thanks for the advice. Are there usually queues to go up?

|||

We went about 7pm on 17th July 2008. no queues. The view is stunning. Well worth it.

Enjoy.

No queues just buy your ticket and walk up. It is nothing like as high as the Eiffel Tower but the views are excellent particularly of the road pattern going out from the arc. The only problem we had was to find the entrance to the subway leading to the island after leaving the Metro exit. It is not very clearly indicated. May be one reason not many people seem to go there!

|||

CuriousOldie, do you mind explaining where the entrance to the subway is located please?

|||

I think our problem we came out of the wrong Metro exit, something I think a lot of tourists do in Paris! We had to cross two roads to find the entrance to the subway. On our return we came out on the Champs-Elysees and the Metro was right next to it!

Thanks for the advice. Can I just check - when arriving which is the best station to get off at?

Oh wow! I wasn%26#39;t aware that you are able to go to the top of the Arc. There are a lot of tourist that stand outside of it and take pictures. It%26#39;s not really that tall, but I assume you will have an incredible view of the Champs Elysees and the Eiffel Tower. The Champs and the Eiffel look best at night.

The view is fantastic. There is an elevator for those unable to walk to the top.

It is a challenge walking across the champs elysee to get to the Arc, but it is certainly worth the challenge--unless there was a metro exit right there that we missed.

There is a pedestrian tunnel.
