AnnieEllis, you are in for the most wonderful trip! My husband and I have returned only yesterday from our first Paris trip and every minute of it was literally lovely!

We stayed near the Arc de Triomphe, and I can give you a solid recommendation for dinner on your second day. Cafe Cesar on Avenue de Wagram is a short walk from the Arc. We ended up eating there practically every night of our 9 day stay. The food is Italian, but executed with a French flair in presentation and seasoning, and it was wonderful. The young to middle age clientele was probably 90% local, and the staff (all of them spoke French, English %26amp; Italian) is fantastic. Atmosphere was laid back but had a kind of casual elegance that I didn%26#39;t see in other cafes.

We even tried their pizza one night after returning very late from sightseeing, and even that was absolutely great. I don%26#39;t know what your budget is like, but we spent anywhere from 53 to 120 euros depending on the wine, drinks and food choices, for two. In Paris, we found this to be a good bargain for the quality of food and service we were afforded.

It kept us coming back for all but one night of our stay.....

Thanks, thats great, sounds lovely and we will def try that one out :-)

Bargain and delicious food is available at the Latin quarter, it is really easy to get to by train.

I%26#39;m glad you are going to Tuileries as it is such a historic garden.

Day 1--since you will be near Notre Dame, I suggest you also see Saint Chapelle and wander around Ile St. Louis. You might want to have dinner on Ile St. Louis.

I suggest L%26#39;Appart, 9-11 rue du Colisee, just off the Champs Elysees (near Metro Franklin D. Roosevelt) for dinner on Day 2. We really enjoyed our dinner--good food and not real expensive.

Day 3: I have a tradition of having lunch at Cafe de Flore. The waiters are real %26quot;no nonsense%26quot; there. It is crowded and they just try to get people in and out. But it is so historic that I love to experience it. Other people might suggest the Brasserie Lipp which is very near by for good food, reasonable prices and not quite so hectic. (I haven%26#39;t eaten there yet.)

You don%26#39;t like museums? I don%26#39;t see any listed.

I recommend that on Day 2 you visit Opera Garnier and do a self-tour. It is very near Printemps/Galeries Lafayette and I think it is the most beautiful building in Paris. If you had extra time, very near Galeries Lafayette is a gorgeous mansion/museum called Jacquemart-Andre. It is small and manageable and they give you an audio guide to listen to as to walk through. They have a lovely belle epoque restaurant where you could have tea/dessert.

I also recommend that you go to L%26#39;Orangerie and at least see the room specially designed to hold Monet%26#39;s water lilies if you like his work at all. It is quick and wonderful. There can be a line to get in here but I have never had to wait all that long.

Have a great trip!
