travelling with a 5 year old - where should we stay?!

We are planning on going to Il de Re at the end of August, and I am getting more and more confused about where it would be best to stay. We definately want a self catering holiday, but dont know where to book. I believe you can cycle to most of the beaches, but we would probably want a swimming pool? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We%26#39;re also planning a trip to that region (but not sure where we%26#39;re going to stay, somewhere at the coast probably, as we want to visit lots of places).

We%26#39;ll be travelling with our 8 y/o, so we%26#39;re definitely planning to rent a chalet or mobile home in a camping. Mostly because for kids that%26#39;s more fun :))
