I recently brought my 13 and 14 year old niece and nephew to London with me, both are athletic, and I still ran circles around them so just be prepared for that, I suspect 9 year olds need to rest even more.

One word of advice on Notre Dame, even if you get the museum pass you all still wait in the general line, I thought by getting there around 10:30 that we were early but there was already an 1 1/2 hour queue to go up. Some one in front of us said their friend had gotten there before it officially opened and walked right up.

Also have some flexibility with your days in terms of weather, a couple of times in London we had to change gears and do an indoor activity instead of an outdoor activity and it was good to know what days things were closed and open late etc.

Thank you for the advice. I plan to get to Notre Dame as early as possible. I%26#39;m hoping the lines won%26#39;t be quite as long as the middle of the summer since it is almost time for the kids to go back to school.

I love Chgo. Too!!!! I grew up there!!!!

Include the Marais District the day you see the Musee Pompidou as it is in the Marais District. I think the best part about the Pompidou is the outside architecture. Your grandkids will love it. Then take them next door to see the Stravinsky fountains. They are whimsical, colorful, have lots of moving parts and are really fun. About 1/2 block away from the Pompidou is the Doll Museum (Le Musee de la Poupee). It is located on a deadend street just east of the Pompidou (Impasse Berthaude--or something like that). Your granddaughter might love it. They have a permanent collection of dolls from all over the world as well as a temporary collection which changes. Also, next door to the Doll Museum is the Anne Franke garden (it%26#39;s small) that has flowers which were apparently the same as Anne looked at out of her attic window. That would be a good %26quot;gratitude%26quot; moment for your grandaughters. While in the Marais, be sure to wander down Rue des Rosiers and see the Jewish %26quot;culture%26quot; as well as having a falafel at L%26#39;As du Falafel (buy it from the walk-up window and eat it while you window shop in all the cute shops springing up in that area).

Thank you for all the good suggestions! I will definately include Le Marias on the day of the Pompidou. The Anne Frank flower garden is really special, I did not know about that!!I hope I have enough time that day for all your good suggestions!

You may already know this, but when you go to Luxembourg Gardens, make sure they see the fountain where the kids sail boats, as well as the merry go round where the children get a stick that they try to catch the golden ring.

Also, plan on a picnic or two as there are parks everywhere, people watching is great and the girls could relax or run around.

Whatever you do, relax and enjoy your time with the girls. What a special trip for all of you!

I actually should be more accurate and call it the Anne Frank Park, not garden. It is a very very small park and it is right next to the doll museum so it is very doable.

Another reason to do the Marais District on the Sunday you plan to see the Pompidou is that the Marais District is the liveliest area of Paris on Sunday. It has many places which close for the Jewish Sabbath Friday sundown to Saturday sundown and it comes alive on Sunday.

There is something else which you have left off of your schedule--Ile St. Louis. This quaint very small island is next to Notre Dame. You could go there for lunch after viewing Notre Dame/Sainte-Chapelle. It is a very special part of Paris and worth seeing. There is one main street to the island and then the quai streets which rim the outside along the Seine (you could pick one or the other to walk on).

I suggest putting these things on your wish list and then seeing whatever you have a chance to see. Be sure you get to Notre Dame before it opens so you get right in (or if mass doesn%26#39;t start right away and that is what you want to be there fore, then perhaps get to Sainte Chapelle before it opens so you don%26#39;t have a wait there. Sainte Chapelle is pretty quick once you get inside because there is only one room to view with its gorgeous stained glass windows. It is the line which is the delay, not the viewing.)

Have a great time!

Thank you so much for all your help. Yes I did intend to walk Isle of St. Louis, I guess I forgot to include it on the list. I think it might be too much to do Nortre Dame, Isle of the Cite, Isle of St. Louis, Marias and Pompodou in one day. I might stick the Pompodou some place else. I just don%26#39;t want to do two museums in one day. It is important to go to the Marias on Sunday, so I will do some rearranging.................time is running out!

Thanks so much.
