Review of Parissimo Paris apartment rentals

I recently booked an apartment with Parissimo in Paris. They were great. The price for a one bedroom (plus a pull out sofa bed) was 1014 euros for 7 nights. The apartment was great - beautifully decorated, in a terrific neighborhood, and close to everything. (View the photos before booking.) My son stayed there recently too, he gave it two thumbs up as well. I will definate use them again.

Hoist for disabled person in Normandy

Please can any of you France experts tell me if it is possible to hire portable hoists in Normandy. My son is a wheelchair user and we really need a hoist to lift him at our gite. Any ideas welcome. Nearest town would be Nogent le Retrou. I have spent ages on the net but can%26#39;t find anything and my lack of French is not helping!

|||

Have you tried this sitee?

We%26#39;ve found French pharmacies to be very helpful in arranging for medical equipment.

|||

Catullus, Thank you very much for that I am going to go through the site in detail.

You%26#39;re very welcome; I hope you find some useful information.

Open bus, fat tire, or walking tour??

We have 4 evenings, and 3 full days there, flying out the morning of the 4th day. I do want to do a tour, and had planned to do the open bus tour, but after reading many of the posts, I am wondering if I will feel that I am wasting time waiting for the next bus to come %26#39;round? I know we won%26#39;t want to just stay on the bus for the entire 2-hour trip - we WILL want to get off and explore a few stops, at least I imagine we will. But I don%26#39;t want to wind up spending an entire day on the bus tour either. Would we be better off with a walking tour? Or perhaps the bike tour? I guess my question really is, how long did you wind up spending on the bus tour, and did you find that you did, or did not, have enough time to see what you wanted to see?

|||

We almost always spend our last two days riding around on l%26#39;Opentour, the last day just for another look around before we have to go home.

The buses seem to come by more frequently on the main route than the other three, and more frequently when the weather is nice. The longest we%26#39;ve waited for the next bus is 30 minutes. But, we usually %26quot;skip%26quot; parts of the routes (such as the Champs Elysees) with city buses.

There is no question that l%26#39;Opentour covers a LOT more territory. And, views from seats on the open air upper deck are fantastic. You see a lot more than by walking around or bicycling in a pack.

We no longer go on walking tours because you have to plan your day around them, and often there%26#39;s more standing than walking. There are so many terrific self-guided walking tour guides, pamphlets, even the Access Guide...for going on your own.

Our favorite %26quot;tour%26quot; is the Segway Tour. The Segways are great fun to ride, the groups are small (8 people maximum), and the scenery is wonderful, of course. With the Segways, you%26#39;re breezing around on your own with panoramic views as you go. We like the night tour the best, because you leave in the daylight and return after dark, when the lights have been turned on all over.

|||

Yes the Segway tour does sound wonderful, I had looked into it earlier. Unfortunately my budget won%26#39;t allow for it. But thanks for your insight. I%26#39;m just having a hard time trying to determine what to see, when. There is so MUCH to see in Paris...and you only can see but a little in 3 days! I don%26#39;t want the boys to feel dragged around - but I DO want them to see things that they will remember. :-)

|||

The only drawback ot the Segway tour is it%26#39;s very expensive, think 70 euros. Fine if you just have to pay for yourself, but if you have to pay for a family it gets quite $$$. We really wanted to do it but just could not justify that. The bike tours are cheaper. Fat Tire has a Web site you can look at. We did not do a tour of any kind, just plotted out by day the areas we wanted to see and walked, walked, walked, or used the Metro. But you miss a lot underground!

|||

Yes I am almost considering not doing a tour at all, except for the better view that I could get from the bus - for pictures. We are all in excellent health - all runners, with very comfortable shoes, so walking all day will not be a problem at all.

|||

Here is an earlier thread about free walking tours that get good reviews:

tripadvisor.com/…9144482

|||

Depending on the age of the kids (older than 10 go for it) I would go for the bike tour. I don%26#39;t know if you see as much as the bus, but you get a much more personal feel for the city. You also get to see how close everything is and how walkable the city is from a bike. On my first visit I traveled on the metro and never got a feel for where everything was. On my second trip I took a bike tour, it was super fun and it made me realize how close everything is.

I think your kids, who sound like they are active, would love it.

|||

Just returned from our week in Paris. Took the bike tour with our three kids and had a great time. It gives you a feel for where everything is (many places are very close to each other). I can%26#39;t imagine doing this by bus. Walking or bike riding is the way to see this city up close. So take the bike tour, then pick a few places that interest you and walk around!

|||

I am a big segway fan too. I understand that isn%26#39;t an option for everyone. I think the next best option would be a bike tour. The walking tours usually just cover one small area of Paris and you would have to do many tours to get a real feel for the city.

I don%26#39;t think it is as important for you to see the entire city as it is for you to experience intimately the part you see. I think a bike tour followed by walking, walking, walking is best. If you organize your itinerary, you can start in a different section of town each day (bus or Metro to that area--and by the way I love, love, love the Metro. It is an important part of experiencing Paris as far as I am concerned.) and walk around that area.

I hope you are planning to see the Opera Garnier--my favorite building in Paris (inside and outside).

|||

Yes, Opera Garnier is on my itinerary! :-)

1-day or 3-days museum pass

Hi All,

I am visiting paris for 3-days and will be covering museums on 1st and 3rd day (disneyland on 2nd day).

Is there any 1-day or 3-days museum pass available to purchase through any vendor?

Cheers,

Atiw

|||

Take a look at parisinfo.com--or the Louvre website. Information about the museum pass is readily available. A friend of mine just back from Paris highly recommended the museum pass, mostly to by-pass the long line-ups.

|||

Museum Passes are for 2,4 or 6 days

|||

Yes, try to switch your schedule so you can do your museum pass sites on back-to-back days. The Museum Pass is for 2, 4, or 6 days as mentioned above.

How many museums do you plan to visit? Sometimes it isn%26#39;t worth having the pass because we can tell you how to get in without standing in line. It may or may not be worth getting the pass.

Also, if you list your schedule, if you want us to we can see if your schedule is doable.

One night in Paris...it needs to be one to remember!

Please help - I need a night to remember in Paris!

I%26#39;m coming to the city on the last weekend in August with 3 friends. I want to be able to impress them with a great saturday night out.

My ideal night would be a couple of bars with terraces, some live music and a smokey atmospheric Jazz bar to finish. Can anyone recommend an area or some great bars where will will have a night to remember?

|||

They don%26#39;t allow smoking in restaurants any longer in Paris. I am not sure whether they allow it in bars or not.

Hopefully someone else on TA knows the answer to this one.

I can%26#39;t help with your %26quot;fantasy%26quot; night as I don%26#39;t go to bars (except the Hemingway Bar at the Ritz once and the Metro bar in the 14th (which I really like by the way). It is a sports bar with delicious, inexpensive food, TV%26#39;s, and great service. They have a drink which combines beer and proseco which is to die-for good.

Night train Nice (NCE) to St Raphael and then Port Grimaud?

Hi, I will be flying from Geneva to Nice airport (NCE) via easyjet, this monday 18/8, and I wanted to know if there is a train around 20.00 that I can take to go to St. Raphael.

I found a timetable at the following link of the airport website but it%26#39;s in french and I can%26#39;t seem to understand

pdf schedule : …aeroport.fr/acces_stationnement/trains/hora…

Question 2, are there trains or buses around 21.00, to take me from st. raphael to port grimaud?

Thank you so much!

|||

Hi there,

Bit confused here

What time your flight gets into Nice ?

There seem to be two Easyjet flights from Geneva. One arrives at 17.00 and the later one at 21.25

|||

thank you so much for the reply -- you are right the flight arrives 21.25. if there are no trains or buses after that time I will have to travel the previous day so my morning flight arrives to geneva around 11 AM (im flying from Athens to Geneva first, and then from Geneva to Nice)

thanks again

|||

Last train to St Raphael appears to be at 21.07 - too early for you I%26#39;m afraid: reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en…

Bus times from St Raphael to Port Grimaud are available here: http://www.sodetrav.fr/

|||

indeed, If I fly with easyjet from Geneva to Nice, it%26#39;s too late :(

I was trying to find out if there is a train from Geneva to St Raphael, so I could avoid easyjet.

I will be in geneva on the 18th, flight arrives 19.10.

on raileurope.co.uk I couldn%26#39;t find a train after 13.44

any way to see other trains taht will be travelling over the night, in order to change the schedule?

thanks for your help, really appreciated.

|||

There are no sensible overnight trains, only connections which give you an overnight in Lyon. The last train without such an overnight is at 16.58. reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en…

Nothing wrong with easyjet - very efficient airline with very modern planes - only hassle is the rush for seats on boarding as these are not allocated.

alcohol in public

just wondering if it is acceptable/legal to drink beer/wine in public places such as parks (tastefully as in a picnic with my wife)

thanks

|||

We always have without any problems. Be sure and pack a good corkscrew. We had picnics nearly everyday with a great bottle of wine. Our favorite place, among many delightful spots, was in front of the Eiffel Tower. We also took along some plastic wine glasses that came in quite handy.

You%26#39;ll have a great time picnicking in the many parks.

oprah44

|||

The official Paris park regulations only allow alcoholic drinks on picnic sites (and in the park restaurants,etc., selling alcoholic drinks). As long as you%26#39;re picknicking, I wouldn%26#39;t worry.

|||

I don%26#39;t know if it%26#39;s legal, but it%26#39;s certainly acceptable! Last time we were there, we took a bottle of wine to the tiny park next to our hotel while our room was cleaned. There were lots of people hanging out on the grass and no one gave us a second glance when we pulled out our wine.

taxi Avignon TGV to L'Isle sur la Sorgue

Any ideas how much it would cost for a taxi from Avignon TGV station to L%26#39;Isle sur la Sorgue around 20.30hrs on a Saturday?

|||

You might try contacting this taxi service out of Avignon. I would imagine the fare would not be cheap.

Mappy puts the distance from the station to Isle sur la Sorgue at 29.50 kms, with a driving time of 31 minutes.

As a comparison, the village where I live is 44 kms from the TGV, with 50 minutes drive time and the cost of a taxi (last year) was 75 euros one way. It can vary depending upon time of day too.

http://www.taxis-avignon.fr/

|||

Thank you. I will look into hiring a car instead.Was looking at taxis as we arrive at Avignon out of office hours and same on return journey.

|||

I could be wrong, but I think the rental car agencies, outside the TGV station are open later than 20:30, but it may depend upon day of week. I would think Saturday it would be open later.

This link gives you a list of which rental agencies are located at the Gare TGV Avignon. It notes the hours of most all other services, but not the car rental agencies, so you will have to go to each website individually to check.

voyages-sncf.com/guide/…avignon_TGV.htm

|||

Thank you for your help will investigate car rental further.

|||

Generally, on a Saturday evening all of the Avignon rental offices are closed except those at the TGV station which remain open until 9pm. The in town offices close at 5pm, the airport offices close at 7:30pm

Depending upon how long you need to stay in Isle sur la Sorgue, a taxi may be cheaper than a rental car, particularly for periods of fewer than 3-4 days.

|||

I was pretty sure I remembered taking some friends to pick up a car around 9:30 pm, but I%26#39;d still call them to make sure the hours are correct.

Funny how they are open later on Sunday than Saturday. I guess due to turning in cars at the end of a weekend rental..

And the hours change after Nov. 1, 2008, but not for Saturdays, still closes at 9 pm

|||

Earlier this year I got a quote for a cab for the 17 mile journey from St Remy to l%26#39;Isle sur la Sorgue, and they said 65 euro, one way. No kidding. Admittedly it was a Sunday, but still

Have you checked that no buses run that late? I have been googling but I can%26#39;t find that bus timetable. The last train from Avignon Centre Ville is at 19.30, alas.

|||

Yes bus and trains seem to finish quite early unfortunately.

I will probably go with car rental as we are there for one week so probably works out cheaper than a taxi.

Thanks for everyone%26#39;s help with this query.

Outlet Shopping

Any outlet shopping malls in the area?

|||

I don%26#39;t know about other areas of the Loire, but (thankfully) Saumur appears to have escaped that particular intrusion so far. No offence, but many of us escaped from that kind of encroachment on the countryside when we left our native shores. (Insert winking smiley here).

We have %26#39;cheaper%26#39; stores, if that%26#39;s any good? Places like Gifi, La Halle and Centrakor. These are often located on the edge of town on business parks etc. It depends upon what you%26#39;re looking for though.

Ile Rousse or Calvi for week stay? Travelling with 6 yr old.

I am looking for some advice. I am hoping to visit Corsica alone with my 6 year old son later this month for the first time. Ideally we would like to stay in a small town with a beach, not too much nightlife but some nice cafes, shops etc. I don%26#39;t drive so we will probably spend the week in the town and would like a short transfer from the airport (30 mins?). I have found an apartment in the old town in Ile Rousse but also have read some lovely reviews for Calvi. Can anyone advise which would be the better location for what we are looking for? Or if there are any other areas of the island we can try.

I apprecite it will be very busy but obviously our holiday dates are based around the school holidays.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

|||

I think you%26#39;d like them both - and I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll visit them both wherever you decide to stay.

To summarise, Calvi is much older, more Corsican and has a citadel. Ile Rousse is more French and (in my opinion) has nicer restaurants, shops and bars. Both offer good supermarkets near the town centre and a little train connects the two centres. Both have excellent beaches.

Presuming you are arriving at Catalina (Calvi) airport, obviously Calvi is a little nearer but Ile Rousse is only 20 km or so away. Ile Rousse is nearer to Bastia airport than is Calvi.

Here%26#39;s one other possibility to confuse you...! Had you thought of Algajola? It%26#39;s between the two on the same train line. It%26#39;s a tiny walled town (or should I say village). It is smaller, quieter than the other two and and again offers good facilities. DTR

|||

I would go to Calvi. The sea at Algajola gets deep very quickly and the beach at Ile Rousse is not as long as Calvi which slopes very gently and which was more reassuring when my boy was 6. There are also plenty of cafes on the beach for snacks (and loos).I agree that Ile Rousse probably has nicer restaurants but maybe you could take the little train there and to Algola for lunch?

|||

I%26#39;m a Calvi girl through and through but I would be perfectly happy with a week in Ille Rousse too. I%26#39;d say the beach at Clavi was nicer.

|||

If I were going back to Corsica i would use the Calvi airport for both Ill Rousse and Calvi, the journey by coach over to Bastia will be quite an ordeal for a six year old, {sick bags were out on Sunday for a few people on our coach} also the %26quot;quaint%26quot; little train isn%26#39;t nearly as quaint when it%26#39;s up in 80%26#39;s and you are packed in like sardines, if i were taking a six year old on it, then i would take the earliest possible, certainly before nine in the morning, then return before two oclock, the ten oclock train is one you need to avoid, unless you enjoy being stuffed in an airless steel tube. I agree with %26quot;DTR%26quot; when he says of Ill Rousse being more French, it really is lovely, with a much better %26quot;and cheaper%26quot; selection of cafes and restaurants,with a beautiful old square shaded by mature trees. If i were taking a six year old then Ill Rousse it would be for me. The main road into, and around Calvi is very busy, with traffic nose to tail all morning.

|||

Thank you for all the advice. I am glad I have found out about the journey from Bastia as I have already discounted quite a few resorts in other countries because I don%26#39;t want to do any stressful transfers! Does anyone know how long/smooth a journey it is from Calvi to Ile Rousse?

We just want a really quiet and easy week away so are unlikely to travel around once we reach our destination.

Nikki

|||

We did some trips last week from calvi to Ill Rousse, the road is a good one, winding along the coast road, and i%26#39;m sure your six year old will be ok, looking out at the beautiful turquoise sea, I%26#39;m certainly no expert on Corsica, but i would think 30 to 40 minutes on a coach.

|||

It is indeed a beautiful coastal journey - about 30 mins usually. Ille Rousse is more French I agree but Calvi is fantastic- and more Corsican. The view of the Genoese citadel from the beach is amazing and when you sit in a bar on the port in the edarly evening, the mountains across the bay turn pink and look almost like cardboard cut outs. Calvi is unique whereas I have been to many a town in France which looks like Ille Rousse. The beach is also disappointing.

October weather

Hi going to Nice end of October, what is the weather like at that time of year. Also is Nice a year round resort, will the nightlife be good, 4 40-somethings going, so not clubbing, but nice lively winebars?

|||

Greetings SuzieB,

As a rule, the weather in Nice in October is still quite lovely, especially with less tourists. I have been in the water in October, but the evenings are cool. There is not to say the possibility for rain. I once spent 2 weeks in October in torrential rain, but that was only once. All restaurants, and night life is in full swing. Without question Nice is an all year round resort city, just less tourists in the off months, and the possibility of some restaurant closings during these periods. But don%26#39;t worry, you won%26#39;t starve for food or excitement. Enjoy!

|||

Wine bars aren%26#39;t as common as in the UK - they%26#39;re only just starting to appear. There%26#39;s a good one in Nice called the Bar Cave Wilson, and another called La Part des Anges - they%26#39;re both on the rue Gubernatis. But they close by about 10pm. You could also try the Sabor de Vino in Monte Carlo which stays open later than the ones in Nice - 4 of you could get a taxi back to Nice for about 20 euros each. It%26#39;d be a good night out for a change in Monaco.

Other places for nightlife are the Bodeghita del Havanna, which plays latin american music (live band from 11pm) serves cocktails and has lots of people practicing their salsa. Get there early if you want a table.

Need to be at CDG for 8pm on a Friday?

Hi,

We need to get to CDG for 8pm on a Friday and I was just wondering which route is best? Will taxi be ok at 7pm on Friday or is it best to get the RER?

Many thanks for any help.

|||

If RER is convenient access, best is to go on the RER at that time of the day on a Friday.

Traffic is usually bad on a Friday night. Since traffic is bad, people are becomsing upset and are having more accident, ie traffic is even worst...

|||

RER - faster and cheaper.

Ajaccio to Bonivaccio - how to get there

I need to travel from Ajaccio to Bonivaccio on 12th September to catch ferry for Sardinia but from research buses are not very reliable and car hire for such a short period is very expensive, any suggestions for an alternative route or very cheap car hire. I also considered staying an extra day in Corsica but car hire firms won%26#39;t accept car returns on Saturday or Sunday which rules this out

Madrid to Fatima and Lourdes

My group is travelling from Madrid to Fatima to Lourdes in March 2009. What are the chances of getting train tickets, and is there an advantage to getting a Eurail Pass? How are hotel prices in Fatima and Lourdes at this time March 2009?

|||

A few comments on the proposed journeys if I may:

Fatima%26#39;s train station is 15 miles from town and there is no sensible means of getting between the two.

There are buses every hour from Lisbon to Fatima taking 90 minutes. www.rede-expressos.pt

From Madrid to Lisbon there is only one train a day, an overnight run taking 10 hours. Details at www.cp.pt and look for Lusitânia Comboio Hotel

There are several bus lines operating Madrid - Lisbon taking about the same time or less and with several journeys a day. Or you can fly.

You have a similar problem Fatima to Lourdes, as you will possibly have to make your way back to Lisbon for the one and only daily train between Lisbon and France which leaves at around 4pm - this is the Sud-Expresso which can also be checked at www.cp.pt however reservations cannot be made over the web.

I have ridden that train - reservations open 90 days before travel and the better class accommodation is sold out very rapidly. Coach seats on that journey are not comfortable at all!

That train will take you across Spain during the night and deposit you at Hendaye on the French border at around 730am, from where a connecting French train will get you to Lourdes around 1110am.

I think I am correct that a Eurail pass does not include the cost of reserved sleeping car accommodation but you can check that. Fares in Spain and Portugal are pretty inexpensive in any event.

You could consider flying from Lisbon to Toulouse (a 2 hour train ride from Lourdes) but that would be very expensive.

I can%26#39;t really help with hotels as I have never stayed in either city.

I hope that helps and the best of luck with your planning.

train ride from Lourdes to Madrid, Spain

Please advise if it is possible to take train ride from Lourdes France to Madrid, Spain. Is the train ride pretty safe? Thanks...

|||

There is no direct train route from Lourdes to Madrid.

You can use the timetable database of the German Railways (available in several languages) at

http://www.reiseauskunft.bahn.de/

to research the possible journeys, which will involve taking different trains in both France and Spain and the journey will take about 14 - 18 hours. Use the route %26#39;via Hendaye%26#39; for the faster journey.

or you can possibly travel by bus in about 12 - 14 hours journey, but I believe that there are no direct buses except from the city of Toulouse, which is about a 2 hour train journey from Lourdes. www.eurolines.com or www.alsa.es

Trains in this region are generally safe, with one warning to keep a close watch on any baggage as thieves sometimes board trains at station stops.

Tickets must be reserved for all journeys.

I hope that helps.

Casual restaurants in and around Gordes?

We are off on Saturday with three children - does anyone have any thoguths on great places to eat?

|||

Our favorite was the restaurant at La Ferme de la Huppe, a rustic but very comfortable inn below Gordes on one of the access roads that goes up the hill. We%26#39;ve recommended it to many people, and so far everyone has liked it very much. Prices are moderate.

|||

We very much enjoyed www.auberge-carcarille.com/fr/restaurant.php below Gordes on the road between Gordes and Rousillon. Not inexpensive, but very good food and wine at a comparatively reasonable price. In Gordes, L%26#39;Artegal across the street from the castle and the tres expensive le Renaissance is quite good and reasonable. In Oppede le Vieux is the little gem Le Petit Cafe in the center of the village.

|||

Just outside Gordes you%26#39;ll find http://www.restaurant-estellan.com/ The lunch menu is excellent value and many families with young children enjoy the relaxed atmosphere with climbing features for the young in the grounds.

|||

All the restaurants that have been mentioned so far are great but not what I would call casual. I%26#39;m not sure what to recommend as it depends on your budget, age of the children and your particular tastes. For lunch you could try Mariannas in the centre of Gordes that benefits from the shade of the Chateau where you can eat salads, pasta etc.If you give more info. I%26#39;d be glad to help.

|||

Hi,

Our children are 3.5 and 6 but are generally reasonably behaved in restaurants. They love traditional French food. I am not so concerned about budget but more somewhere where they will be accepted happily and preferably without having to book a table at lunchtime.

Also, are there any specifc places that the children would love?

Thank you

|||

You%26#39;ve received some good suggestions. Because a restaurant uses tablecloths and wine glasses doesn%26#39;t mean it isn%26#39;t casual or that children aren%26#39;t welcome. One other place we enjoyed that fits the category is Le Bistrot in Rousillon.

15 Arrondissement

Hi there,

We are off to Paris in a little less than a week. We are staying in the 15th Arrondissement and are not really sure what to expect. I know that it is not in the %26quot;downtown%26quot; happening part of town and we are fine with that. Coming from a big city already we are very used to taking public transport and can speak pretty fluent French (in case we are lost). It is also more in our budget and we can spend a bit more on other things this way. Can anyone tell me if there are any good restaurants around this area, that are affordable, example: not 300 Euros? Also are there any markets? Please feel free to add any additional comments or information that you think I should know. Thanks a bunch and we are really looking forward to our 9 days in Paris!!

|||

There are plenty of wonderful restaurants in the 15th, in the nearby 6th, 7th, and across the river in the 16th.

It%26#39;s a large arrondissement - where exactly are you staying?

|||

We are staying near metro Convention. It seems like an easy line to access almost anything and is a fast ride to Metro de la Concorde where we can walk to the different places. I am just worried that there is not much in the way of cafes and restaurants in the 15th, but I am happy to hear there is. There is not much written about this area.

Thanks again for all information about this area.

|||

It may be a little late - you might be on your way to Paris as I write this! - but in terms of markets in the 15th, have a look at …paris.fr/EN/…15eme.

Mobility scooter to Bon Laboureur,Chenonceaux & Loire Valley

Dear All,

It is 40 years since I have visited the Bon Laboureur and the Loire Valley and I dare say the hotel has changed greatly in that time. I was also a child on my previous visit and quite able bodied. Has anyone been there recently and noticed whether my scooter can be used. I need level ground,steps are an impossibility.

Also, any ideas of museums or vineyards and other attractions that I can visit. I have a 10 year old who I would love to take to as many places as possible.

Many thanks and fingers crossed!

|||

Bon Laboureur is much loved by wine people I know including Jim Budd, who partly lives nearby and is the writer for www.winetravelguides.com. He recommends both the hotel and the restaurant and I admit they look fabulous. The website (www.bonlaboureur.com/HotelUK.asp) doesn%26#39;t make it clear whether there are ground floor rooms or a lift, but I would give them a call - they are sure to have someone who can speak English.

For wine, I would visit a wine shop in Montlouis owned by vignerons - La Cave Insolite (www.cave-insolite-chidaine.com) as a first stop and they would then be able to direct you to the right Loire vineyards that you will be able to visit - it won%26#39;t be easy as many have their tasting rooms in cellars.

I%26#39;m sure the big chateaux would have facilities so that you can use your scooter.

Good luck - and if you get stuck let me know by PM and I%26#39;ll ask my writer about the hotel.

|||

Dear Winetravelguides,

Thanks for your response and help.

When booking I rang the hotel and they have given us accomodation on the ground floor which they have promised is as suitable as possible. Though their English was good I don%26#39;t think they were familiar with the concept of a scooter. If you could speak to your expert I%26#39;d be most grateful.

Kind regards.

Steam Trains/Heritage Railways

Dear All,

Are there any steam trains or heritage railways within 90 minutes of Chenonceaux?

Many thanks

|||

http://www.trains-fr.org/unecto/_annu/#centre

The one at Richelieu isnt running, and Chemin de Fer du Blanc à Argent might be outside your 90 minute range

Simon

http://daysontheclaise.blogspot.com/

|||

Simon,

Thanks for your speedy reply.

Do you think the Chemin de Fer du Blanc at Angers is worth a trip? My French isn%26#39;t up to understanding their site. My husband%26#39;s the train afficionado and I%26#39;d hate to drive for hours if its only a short run.

Any other tips in the area. My mobility%26#39;s limited, I walk with a crutch and also have a mobility scooter. My nearly 10 year old%26#39;s interested in most things.

Many, many thanks again.

|||

I have to admit that even though I like trains, and have dragged Mrs Wiz around steam centres in the UK, I have not (yet) visited any of the French ones.

Depending on how healthy you and hubby are (and how game the kid is) a velorail might be good craic....

tourisme.chinon.com/fr/loisirs/cylorail.php is in Chinon www.paddywackfarm.co.uk/images/velorail1.jpg will give you an idea of what youre up for. Mum can sit on the back like lady muck!

Simon

http://daysontheclaise.blogspot.com/

|||

There%26#39;s a small narrow gauge railway at Rillé - see http://www.trains-fr.org/aecfm/. Possibly a little outside the 90min radius from Chenonceaux again. There%26#39;s also a small one close to Cléré les Pins, near to Tours. I forget the name, and don%26#39;t think it has a website. It%26#39;s only a small track though, more for kids than adults I think.

|||

Thanks again everyone.

Where to stay?

We are trying to decide where to stay that would be central for our 1 week stay...or should we stay at a couple different locations? We are looking at staying in Antibes, Isle-sur-la Sorgue and Cavalaillon...what do you think? Suggestions? Tips?

|||

Not Cavaillon. I%26#39;m sure it has people that love it but there%26#39;s not much there for the visitor. I don%26#39;t know Antibes. L%26#39;isle is lovely but very quiet except for weekends. When are you going? And will you have a car? The riviera (around Nice) and provencal Provence (around Avignon) are a couple of hours driving apart and very different from one another. do you want small quiet town or lively beach culture?

|||

Thank you. We are going at the beginning of September (not much time). We will have a car...we will are looking to stay in quiet places, B%26amp;B%26#39;s etc and then spend our days exploring.

|||

Avignon is a great centre for a base - lots to see in Avignon itself and also well situatted for exploring further afield.

We stayed at Maison Lumani - a charming B%26amp;B in a lovely old town house. Look in the B%26amp;B section of the accommodation on TA - it gets plenty of good reviews.

Bus to Juan les pins

Hello there! Tomorrow I will arrive at Nice airport at 9.00 in the morning and I have to go to the Boulevard Baudoin in Juan les Pins. I can take a bus from the airport right? Could you tell me wich stop is the best for me to get out in Juan les Pins?

Thank you!!

|||

Same question responded to 17th June, save typing:

You want the 200 TAM bus out of Nice bound for Cannes that stops to pick up at Terminal 1 only (not T2 - if landed at T2 use the free navette to T1 )

It takes a little over an hour and costs one euro. The main Antibes -Cannes road is a few hundred yards inland, so you will need to watch signs for JLP soon after Antibes. If you hit Golfe Juan Vallauris you have overshot.

If you make a poinmt of asking the driver to call out for Juan les Pins theres a reasonable chance he/she will remember - but don%26#39;t count on it!

SOOOZ...

Ligne 200 from Terminal 1 platform 0.

Journey takes anything upwards of 50 minutes depending on the time of day and traffic.

The stop you want is La Regence. Avenue de l%26#39;Esterel is quite long, so you may have a bit of a walk depending on where your hotel is.

rca.tm.fr/ftp/lignes/NC%20200%20hiver2007.pdf

|||

Will it be obvious when you get to La Regence stop in JLP? Is it announced or sign posted?

Many thanks

|||

dusk,

All the bus stops have their names printed on white signs which you%26#39;ll notice as you go past

Once you get to the main square (Place de Gaulle) in Antibes, start looking out (Place de Gaulle is impossible to miss and the Ligne 200 always stops there). La Régence is the next but one stop, after one called Pont Colonnial.

It%26#39;s also worth asking the driver to point the stop out, but there are likely to be lots of other people getting off at La Régence too which should help.

Happy holidays

Great, Off tomorrow... thanks for you help

Overnight stay / champagne tours in reims

Hi -

My travel group (7 adults, 1 child) would like to go to Reims for an overnight stay and visit to some champagne houses. We plan on having our own cars.

Can anyone recommend:

1. A nice hotel in the area - we don%26#39;t want to spend a fortune, but would like a nice place.

2. A good lunch/dinner spot

3. What champagne houses to visit and do we need reservations?

Thanks for your valued assistance!

Did you have any luck finding nice accomodation in Riems? I%26#39;m looking for somewhere to stay this Friday night.

Thanks in advance,

New Year in Nice

Hi

I%26#39;m currently planning a week long break in Nice over New Year. Can anyone advise me if there are any special New Year Celebrations planned?. Actually any information would be very useful! What days will be public holidays in France, just the 1st January or will the majority of the shops close for longer?

I%26#39;m also interested to find out about the sights of Nice, I enjoying walking, cycling and speak a little french so I%26#39;m keen to explore

Thanks

M

|||

If you like cycling and walking you really should go to the villages around Vence, greolieres Tourettes which is about 20 minutes from Nice airport.

|||

Me too - I want to know whats on in Nice and Monte Carlos over X mas and new Year!!! Please advise anyone.

|||

hi my wife and i go to our apartment in nice every newyear , if you want to go for a meal on newyears evening you have to book in advance. the meals usually start about 7pm and go on till 1am ,fireworks down at the promanade around midnight. shops are closed on the 1st ,most open on 2nd. plenty sights to see walking or taking the train, never tried cycling -keep off the roads mad french drivers, we love the place , hope you enjoy it as much as we do !!

|||

Hi

There is a new guided cycle tour just started in Nice. I went on it with my girlfriend and we had a great time. Its 3 hours long and you cover about 10km. You get to see all the main attraction of Nice and learn some of its history.

Well worth doing.

Bicycle rental in Nice

One of the postings mentioned that Nice was fairly flat. Wondering if bicycle rental for leisurely biking makes sense, in terms of bicycle routes or lanes? Any particular rental companies to recommend?

Thank you.

|||

have hired a bicycle from a place on the Promenade, somewhere between the Negresco and the Casino, can%26#39;t remember exactly, beware of the drivers in Nice, they are wreckless, although there are cycle lanes on the actual Prom.

|||

Biking here is not bad. The dedicated for-bikes-only infrastructure is nowhere near the more elaborated networks you can find in, say, Germany, but getting around is no problem. I use my bike more often than my car, feeling safe. Trips e.g. Nice- Monaco have been covered in previous posts.

|||

I am a life long cyclist and have cycled in many parts of Europe, Asia and the US. I often ride my bike close to Nice but I draw the line at cycling in Nice itself which has some of the worst drivers I have come across anywhere. You will see that almost all cars in Nice are damaged. A bump when you are riding a bike is rather more serious! Apart from the Promenade Des Anglais there are no dedicated cycle routes and, in any case, the interesting parts of the city cover a small area easily doable on foot.

|||

Hi

Was looking at cycling down in Nice when I go down to my brother%26#39;s house there, although I do appreciate the lack of paths apart from the one on Promenade. Are there any dedicated route out of town towards Villefranche, or the other way?

Cheers

Ed

|||

I went cycling from Villefranche today and, as ever, was struck by how considerate drivers are compared to those in the UK. There is a cyclist/pedestrian path for part of the way from Nice to Villefranche. Don%26#39;t know how fit you are? There is wonderful, virtually traffic free cycling once you leave the coast road but this is a very hilly area indeed. I was touching 55mph down from Col D%26#39;Eze today. I don%26#39;t do that in Hampshire.

|||

Got down last night, so am going to wander over to Villefranche and back over Mount Boron. The only bit that concerns me is climbing the hill to the East of the Old Port, which as I remember has no cycle lane. Thanks for your help

Lots of places to hire bikes - rue cassini by the Port or a few places along the Prom and by the train station.

Here%26#39;s the cycling map for Nice:

We rode our bikes to the airport the other day, it%26#39;s about 40 minutes (very steadily!)I *believe* you can cycle all the way to Cagnes sur Mer from the prom

I did the bike tour mentioned by another poster with nicecycletours.com and really enjoyed it. I wrote a review here:

Are there any Normandy experts that can tell me if you can hire portable hoists? My son needs one at our gite. nearest town Nogent le Retrou. I have looked on the net but cannot find a mobility shop as we have in Uk.

The pharmacie in VALOGNES has hoists, try phoning a couple of local Pharmacies to see if they can help

Most Pharmacies in any town will have such aids for the disabled for hire.

Many thanks for your help. Volognes is too far away but I will try local pharmacies.

It could be that they don%26#39;t have anything available during the time you%26#39;ve requested and they are slow getting back to you. But, I would not rely on that, I%26#39;d call just to make sure. Weekend emails almost always get replied to on weekdays. So, if you sent off a request on Friday, it is possible they will not reply until today or tomorrow.

|||

try another site : www.vacationinparis.com

|||

I just booked parisperfect.com on the advice of TAers...they respond absolutely promptly! All of their aprts are in the 7th - with Eiffel Tower views and next to the Champs du Mar with lots of kidstuff.

|||

Why do you want to have a car in Paris? It%26#39;s a nightmare to drive in Paris and the public transportation (plus walking) is fabulous. Even if you are going to go somewhere outside of Paris, it would be best to get a car when you need it and return it when you are done.

I don%26#39;t know about taking a vacation somewhere you have to %26quot;drag%26quot; your 2 year old son. I would suggest getting a different attitude or reconsidering this trip.

|||

ECHOING..forget the car!

|||

Ok guys I got the hints!! No cars in Paris!! But I am driving from London to Paris so I need somewhere to leave the thing for 3 days. I hear Paris is nightmare to park and I wonder if you guys have any tips.

|||

I would suggest finding a place on the outskirts of Paris so it will be cheaper. Why don%26#39;t you just take the eurostar?

There have been times when I was glad I was in a car in Paris (bumming a ride from the Bois de Bologne after an open air Moliere play to a major Metro station in order to get back to my apartment)--and I was being driven by a Parisien who knew how to deal with the craziness of driving there--but those time are few and far between.

restaurants and bars near pere lechaise

hi i am staying in the armstrong hotel which as far as i know is neart pere lechaise and is in the 19/20 arrondisments. Has anyone stayed at the armstrong hotel before and if so what are its amenities like (in particular the bar/restaurant) also im looking for bars and restaurants on a low-medium budget around the area.. if anyone has any info that would be great.

thanks

There is a restaurant called le Saint Amour near Metro Pere Lachaise. I go there every time I am in the ares. There is also la Mere Lachaise that I have heard of but not been to. Metro Gambetta also has many restaurants. It is a family type of neighborhood, and you will find all you need there.

Make sure you visit the cemetery which has all kinds of famous people burried there, great sculpture and a wild crowd at times.

In case you understand French take a tour with Bertrand Beyern. His tours are advertised in Pariscope and he is the best (not to mention very handsome)

|||

thank you la photographe do you know haow much a 3 course meal would be approx in the restaurants you mentioned. i cant wait to go the cemetery either, last time i went to see jim morrison but im hoping to spend a lot more time there this time round

Best LOCAL restaurants

Looking for best local food in Nice. Want to eat where you eat!! Let me know. THANKS

|||

Please....your are asking us to pick out the nicest grains of sand in the Sahara! What is your budget, if any? Do you want fancy french, niccoise, italian or basic local cuisine? Are you interested in a great Indian or Chinese eaterie? As you can see, we need more info.

|||

When looking for local food, we have not budget constraints. IF you are a local person living in Nice, whre would you eat local food. Thanks

|||

A lot of locals here are Italian, which better value and better than the standard in Northern Italy - I reckon the best restauranteurs move to the Riviera.

For sensibly priced good Italian a cut above the rest, Baie d%26#39;Amalfi at Gustave deLoye / Pastorelli.

For sensible priced French likewise - locals tend not to eat out every night price no object - thats for tourists - try Cantina Lulu, rue Pastorelli/ Aliberti.

Up the ante? - Christian Plumail%26#39;s l%26#39;Universe, bd Jean Jaures

I defer to others on Vieux Nice. I tend not to go for Nicois Specialties (testicules de mouton anyone tried?)

|||

Testicules are GORGEOUS. They come in thick fried slices, several inches across. French rams must be very well endowed.

|||

Respect Jo! - my eyes watered at your description. No doubt given the chance, you also plump for pigs trotters and Calves head, washed down with warm goats spittle.

(I did order sheeps brain once, in Dubai - it was very small. I concluded only the not very bright sheep ended up as lunch)

At least Nice Socca results only in the death of a few chickpeas. Vegetable Rights campaigners please note.

I strugged with Nicois Tarte de Blettes. Spinach tart dusted with icing sugar. Ghastly. I still say give the local Specialities Nicois a wide berth. I%26#39;ll stick with the Poulet Roti.

Cheers!

|||

NiceLife I enjoy reading your responses. You have an elegant and witty turn of phrase. As you are a part time Nice resident I respect your advice. One of the best TA members contributing to Nice Forum. (Have you had the bouillabaisse in Chez Davia, R Grimaldi?No iffy bits in that unless I couldn%26#39;t identify them).Testicles,brains,sweetbreads,intestines-oh no not for me. As a child my Mum used to serve brains, cos it was sheep, no sorry, cheap. The memory of the texture still makes me heave. And school dinners of liver and onions with tubes in the liver. Oh how lucky I am now to be able to afford prime cuts.

|||

Back on track, where do the locals eat? Try La Petite Maison, even tho%26#39; you%26#39;ll also see the odd aging 70s popstar in there, he%26#39;ll be rubbing shoulders with the local councillors. Also, Le Safari on Cours Saleya, although popular with tourists, it%26#39;s also popular with locals and the food is regional (they do tripe a la nicoise). I%26#39;ll second NiceLife%26#39;s recommendation of the Cantine de Lulu on rue Alberti - Lucien the owner is a great guy and champion of Nicoise cuisine - may be an idea to book tho%26#39; as it%26#39;s a very small place. The Grain de Cafe on ave Felix Faure is a great favourite run by Corsicans. Also the Cenac, just along the road from Nice Etoile and Monoprix. Cuisine is a mix of South East and South West France, run by a Parisian. There are always regulars there, even tho%26#39; again, it attracts its fair share of tourists.

|||

Boy, it%26#39;s nice to see I started a food blog here...keep them coming!! What about La Zucca Magica??

|||

Friends of ours (ex Nice residents) tried the Zucca Magica and said the food was good, vegetarian, but there was way too much. It seems to be open at odd times, and you should only go if you haven%26#39;t eaten the day before.

|||

I can%26#39;t claim to be an expert, but I can absolutely recommend both Bar Bienvenue (run by two English lads, I think)and Chez Palmyre (great fun). Both can be found in Vieux Nice and are not expensive

Bon Appetit!

How much is a taxi for 5 from Perpignan to Argele Sur Mer

Can anyone tell me how much a taxi for 5 is likely to cost from Perpignan airport to Argeles Sur Mer Eurocamp le Soleil?

Thanks

|||

Between €50 and €65 on week days, more on Sundays.

If you want a taxi for 5 people, it is highly recommended to make a reservation one or two days in advance.

|||

Would the price differ for a taxi for 3? Travelling on a Monday.

|||

Taxis are usually more expensive at night.

Please refer to the above e-mail address for exact quote.

BMI baby plane

Looking at travelling from EMA to Nice . Friend wondering what size the plane is can anyone help ?

|||

Chances are it will be a 737. The vast majority of the BMIBaby fleet are Boeing 737s which seat around 150 passengers ie not twin props if that%26#39;s what your friend is wondering :)

|||

Many thanks for this info.

|||

Might be worth looking at flying from Birmingham.

I found my flight cheaper from BHX than EMA and better timings too.

|||

When I flew BMI to Nice it was a 737 as the previous poster suggested. Nice planes, too, with free drink and sandwich on the flight - nice to pass the journey!

Has anyone eaten at Keisuke Matsushima's restaurant?

I am thinking of booking an evening meal here for our forthcoming 25th wedding anniversary. Does it live up to all the hype?

Any idea as to prices and food type.It is in Rue de France.

|||

Gosh Scentsitive, it sounds wonderful - wish you%26#39;d told me about it before our recent trip - will add it to my list of places to try on our next visit to Nice.

3 relevant links you my or may not have found:

I presume you%26#39;ve seen this article?

edinformatics.com/travel/…keisuke_m_rest.htm

Lunch sounds fantastic and good value at 45 euros

…isango.com/2008/…

This is a new, good blog that mentions the restaurant and prices, plus others that I know about, plus others that are new to me.

Happy Silver Wedding

Hi --

Go to the web site and judge for yourself.

http://www.keisukematsushima.com/en

I haven%26#39;t seen the entire menu, but it appears to be French cuisine with a Japanese eye for colour and texture. Since he has a Michelin star, I expect the food to be pretty good and the prices to be pretty high.

|||

Thank you Elaine126 and Traveler for your replies. Has anyone actually eaten there??

I am also considering Jouni as an option, so any reports from there would be useful too.

|||

I ate at his restaurant several years ago when it was called Kei%26#39;s Passion. He has since enlarged the space and gotten a Michelin star. Our meal at Kei%26#39;s Passion was superb and one we still talk about. We haven%26#39;t been since he%26#39;s enlarged because it was closed for the renovation once when were there and we just didn%26#39;t make it there on subsequent visits.

I%26#39;ve been to Jouni 3 times. The first was for dinner at its old location and we really enjoyed that meal. Then for lunch twice at the La Reserve location and were very pleased both times.

|||

We have decided to book a table at Jouni%26#39;s for a lunchtime in September. Will report back later how it went.

|||

I have eaten there - we missed lunch and went for dinner instead. If you are a real foody - and think of cusines as an art form - it%26#39;s definately worth a visit as some of his ideas are really new thinking

that work.

The five hotel-good location in paris?

Does anyone know if the five hotel is in a good location for being close to restaurants,shops, excitement? This hotel is getting great reviews...but no one says its location is good?

|||

Do you mean the George V? If you do than it%26#39;s in a very upscale neighborhood between the River Seine and the Champs-Elyeese. Upscale shops and restaurants. Do a TA review on the hotel and they will map the location for you.

|||

If you%26#39;re staying at Le Cinq I guess taxis are affordable?

It%26#39;s about a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest Metro from Le Cinq. The location isn%26#39;t as fantastic as say, The Ritz, but it is an amazing hotel. You will probably not even notice the location because you won%26#39;t leave the hotel!

|||

No Not George the V. Its supposedly called the five hotel, chic and in the 5e arrondissement area. Can anyone suggest a similar hotel but in a more convenient location??? something under $300 would be perfect!

|||

I believe you are talking about The Five Hotel on rue Flatters in the 5eme?

My understanding is that the hotel itself is quiet but near what you seek.

This was posted by a TA reviewer early last month

%26lt;%26lt;The hotel is only a few minutes walk to Rue Mouffetard which is a bustling street full of small shops, cafes, bars and restaurants and we were able to find plenty of places to enjoy dinner here. For something a bit more special there is a restaurant very close to the hotel, Au Petit Marguery , it was worth paying a little extra for this delightful meal and the restaurant seemed full of local Parisians which added to the atmosphere.

The hotel is well located for walking through the Latin Quarter and up to the Left Bank, Notre Dame etc. We would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for somewhere to spend a romantic few days in Paris.%26gt;%26gt;

Which says it all really!

HTH%26#39;s

ebabe

|||

Thanks for the advice..It sounds like a fabulous hotel. I just am hoping that it is not in the middle of No Where? and completely off the beaten path?

|||

The 5eme is a central area with plenty in walking distance. Lots of people love the Latin Quarter.

ebabe

|||

Try the Hotel Nepoleon. Half a block from the Arc. Great hotel, great location. Family run since 1924. Old time luxury. O. Wells, J. Baker, E. Flynn were frequent guests. For specifics view their web site.

|||

The relatively %26#39;new%26#39; FIVE HOTEL (3-star) 3 rue Flatters (nr: Blvd. de Port-Royal) 75005, Metro: Les Gobelins and Censier-Daubenton (#7); RER: Port Royal (%26#39;B%26#39;)-- http://www.thefivehotel.com/ is a recent, gutting %26amp; major renovation, 3-star upgrade and reincarnation of the old, very basic, 1-star, Hôtel Flatters.

The owners of the Five Hôtel also appears to be offering another %26#39;hotel-within-a-hotel%26#39;--ONE by the FIVE-- http://www.onebythefive.com/ --(3 penthouse rooms/suites) within this same building...a somewhat novel concept.

The FIVE HÔTEL%26#39;s location (at: rue Flatters %26amp; Blvd. de Port Royal) is approx. 2.5 km south (approx. 20-25 min walking distance--7 mins via #7 Metro)) of the Seine, in the lower portion of the 5eme-Latin Quarter. As noted, it is near to the lower-end of the rue Monge. This immediate neighborhood (predominently residential) of the lower-5eme isn%26#39;t likely to provide much in the way of %26quot;..excitement..%26quot; day or night...but its relative proximity to %26#39;the rest of Paris%26#39; is fairly convenient--approx. 20-25 min walking distance to the Seine--5 mins via #7 Metro.

Though perhaps not quite as self-consciously %26#39;hip%26#39; as the Five, also check out (check for any special internet promotional rates) the ARTUS HÔTEL (3-star)--34 rue de Buci (nr: Blvd Saint Germain) 75006, Metro: Odéon-- http://www.artushotel.com/e/hotel/

|||

I don%26#39;t know the hotel, but Au Petit Marguery is actually in the 13th, not the 5th. It%26#39;s a wonderful little bistro, however, and worth the métro ride to get there.

Hotel Claridge`s ¤¤, comments?

Hello!

I know Ican trust you- does anyone know this hotel Claridge`s in Menton ?

We have a rervation in this Hotel and would like to know something about it. How about trainstation, is it far away from the hotel?

Thank you for your answer...

|||

There%26#39;s a short 2004 review at virtual-tourist that says it%26#39;s clean, nice, 2 star and vey close to the train station.

|||

Thank`s! Do you know about trainstations, is there 1 or 2 stations in Menton? And what station would be close to this hotel?

Thank you for your answer! If you have something else to tell about Menton, please tell us ! :)

|||

http://www.claridges-menton.com/index-gb.htm

I presume you have looked at the hotel%26#39;s website linked above?

Why don%26#39;t you email them with whatever questions you have?

For any other information you want, post your questions separately here on the Menton forum of Tripadvisor, to reach more eyes and advice.

Otherwise you will only be limited to the people who look into your Claridge%26#39;s Hotel question.....hope you understand what I mean.

http://www.justtourfrance.com/Provence_Alpes_Cote_d_Azur/town.asp?town=Menton%26amp;area=Alpes-Maritimes%26amp;county=Provence-Alpes-Cote+d*Azur

There is also a tourist office in Menton who will be able to help you.

There is one train station called Gare de Menton.

It appears to be very close to the hotel and should be walkable but the hotel will be able to let you know for sure.

|||

Thanks Elaine126!

I`ll email to hotel and ask more. Now i found where the trainstation is and yes- it`s very near to hotel Claridge`s :)It will be so easy to travel around coast.

|||

Hello Mondo. I am coming hotel Claridge too,it`s very %26quot;intéressant%26quot; too see what kind hotel Hotel Claridge is!I hope we can meet there and speak more about hotel and all things ;)

MmM

|||

Thanks rallis! W`ll meet there :)

Hopefully the Hotel is fine.I just can`t wait !

|||

I probably walked by it but I don%26#39;t remember it. The area is fine. The street it is on is also near the bus station so you can also access Bus 100 which is another alternative to go along the Riviera to Nice (going through Cap Martin, Monaco, Beaulieu, Villefranche before Nice). The post office is near by also. At the sea end of the street is the Casino. The visitor%26#39;s bureau is across the park (Jardins Biovès) which runs between Ave. Verdun and Ave Boyer. There are some interesting stores along Rue Partouneau starts across the street/park from Ave Thiers. It will run into the pedestrian street Rue St Michele which will lead you to the Vielle Ville and the church St. Michel. It is about a 10-15 minute walk. You%26#39;ll also find a large market here (near Quai de Monleon) and many restaurants.

Enjoy your stay.

|||

Thanks for your answer !

Nice to hear locations for tourist office etc.Only one week and couple of days and here we come :)

|||

I also have a reservation there but I have been unable to contact the hotel by email or by phone in order to confirm my reservation. Now I%26#39;m starting to get a little worried. If you were able to contact them, how did you do it?

|||

I stayed at this hotel a couple of years ago. It%26#39;s a nice, clean, well-kept two star, within walking distance of anything you might need. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. I walked from the station and I think it was 10 or 15 minutes away. It%26#39;s hard for me to calculate because I had no reservations and didn%26#39;t walk directly point to point.

I definitely will stay there again if I find myself in the area. It was very pleasant.
