can you suggest a nice cafe?

Hi

I am staying at Le Meridien Etoile and wondered if anyone could suggest a nice local cafe for breakfast? Nothing too fancy just somewhere with good orange juice, coffee, toast and pastries.

Thanks for any help.

I don%26#39;t know how they do breakfast in UK but in France they don%26#39;t do breakfast like they do in America. You say what you are looking for but I find that the good pastries are at the pastry shop, not the corner cafe. If you really want toast, you will pay a lot of money for it. Will you by any miracle of a chance have a little refrigerator in your room at your hotel? It is so much cheaper and better to buy some oj at a store and pick up pastries at a pattiserie. They are so cheap that way.

The answer to your question is that I don%26#39;t know of a little local cafe. There are literally hundreds or thousands of them. I suggest that you walk to the corner and there is likely to be one. I%26#39;m not being sarcastic. I am serious.

You could also try looking for Le Meridien Etoile%26#39;s details on www.pagesjaunes.fr You can usually get a view of the entire street on both sides to see what businesses/building adjoin. When you get the business up choose %26#39;photo%26#39; wait for it to load and the choose a frontage. When the page loads you will see other photos underneath which will give you the whole streetscape.

Thanks for all the replies.

I would walk down avenue des Ternes about 500 meters to Place des Ternes - there are several choices there.

For dinner and lunch, the area near your hotel that is within avenues Ternes, Acacias, Carnot and Wagram has a number of good choices in all price ranges.

Also check the comments on the hotel%26#39;s TA reviews, because usually people do not want to pay a lot for breakfast and will post where they had it instead.

Many cafes do a set breakfast menu, usually consisting of a choice of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, a choice of croissant or pain au chocolat, orange juice and some jam. Toast isn%26#39;t seen very often in Paris, I think because sliced bread isn%26#39;t popular over here. I have seen prices vary between E4.50 to E9 for these set breakfasts, the higher price was at an organic cafe.

Thank you all very much!
