Paris in a Day - HOHO Bus?

I%26#39;m doing a daytrip from London to Paris on the Eurostar next week (Wednesday) with my husband. We will arrive around 10:30 am and leave on the last train at 9:15 pm.

What is the best way to spend the day, in order to hit the major sites? We don%26#39;t want to be on a %26#39;strict%26#39; schedule... would the hop on hop off cityrama bus be our best option?

Look forward to your suggestions.

I think the hop on hop off buses are the best option - we normally do that wherever we can to get oriented - it gives you a bit of commentary too and you can decide where you want to hop off at. Enjoy your trip!

Not a big fan of these buses – you see so much more walking and Paris isn’t that big.

In late May, I suggested one possible itinerary in reply to a post “a plan for 1day in paris.” Might give you some ideas…

I disagree that you see much more by walking around. For one thing, those buses cover a LOT more of the city than you can on foot! It%26#39;s a terrific way to see the neighborhoods, monuments, major attractions.

If the weather is pleasant, views from seats on the open air upper deck are magnificent. L%26#39;Opentour has four circular routes. You won%26#39;t have time for all four, so would recommend the main route, then the one going through St-Germain, Montparnasse...The last bus on each route departs around 5 or 6 PM, so be sure to check with the drivers when you get off for the approximate time of the last bus at that stop.

If you have time, wind up the day in Montmartre and take a taxi back to Gare du Nord.

For one day, if you want to cover a lot of ground and not be forever looking at the map for where you are, where you are going I think the hoho bus works fine.

If you where coming for a week, different story.

You can check the routes on the www.ratp.fr site. It will give you an idea where you might want to get on and off, which route suits you best etc.

Have a wonderful day. If you have time do post back how you got on as this is a question that keeps croping up.
