I%26#39;m in the process of planning a surprise day trip to Paris for my boyf when he comes to visit me in London in October.
I think we%26#39;ll fly from Luton, but we may just get the Eurostar - I haven%26#39;t decided yet.
He wants to see the Eiffel Tower, naturally but I haven%26#39;t got a clue what else we should be seeing when there.
I%26#39;m crap at French (German was my forte at school) so worry we won%26#39;t be able to find our way around and obviously cos we have limited time I wanna make sure he has the best day possible.
Should we do a sightseeing tour? If so which would you reccomend and where can you hop on a bus? I think a tour would be handy and then we can go wandering off to explore afterwards before heading back to the airport or train station.
Arrgh I have so many questions but my mind%26#39;s gone blank!
Any useful hints and tips would be MUCH, MUCH appreciated!!!! All this planning is so stressful.
The things we do for love, eh?

Definitely go by train since you are in London. Book as early as possible for a 7.30am Eurostar train on-line to get the cheapest seats. Due to Tome Zone difference the journey takes 3 hours so you will be at Gare de Nore around 10.30. Take the Metro down to the Seine for a boat trip, the Hop on Hop off bus is not a good option with the limited time you have available. Vendettes du Pont for your boat trip is very convenient and you will get a good view of the Eiffel Tower from the boat. When you return from the boat trip which lasts an hour you will be back in the centre to take in as much as you have time for Notre Dame, Latin Quarter before you have to head back to the Station. You have to book in at least 30 minutes before your departure time but this time you gain since the journey will only take an hour ! Have a great day I expect you receive plenty of advise from others what to see on this trip.

Thanks very much for your post. Yep I decided that the train would be the better option. Thanks for the tip regrading the 7:30am train too.
You%26#39;ve helped a lot, thank you.
Any other suggestions?

Hi,
You were definitely right to go by eurostar, so much less hassel.
Paris is an amazing city,so many things to do and see and thankfully a lot of people speak english so you should be fine!
I too would suggest the batobus, you get to see the sights from the Seine and have the comfort of sitting. I would advise to get off at the Notre Dame and go either left to the Marais (my favourite part of paris amazing cafes and restaurants) or right to the latin quartier SaintMichel
Both have great atmosphere.
If you have a lot of time to kill I%26#39;d advise looking at http://cityzeum.com/en
they have a list of monuments/shops/bars/and restaurants in paris and give maps that are easy to follow
hope you have an amazing day,
sam

There is a difference between the Batobus and the Vendetttes du Neuf Pont cruises. See this Thread

If you want to get off for the Eiffel Tower you will have to use the Batobus. The boats start from different points so you will have to decide which one to go for.
