Older couple desires modern hotel near public transport. Quiet room to room. We have not been able to get an impression of an updated hotel for us. We will be taking numerous train/bus day trips from Nice. 180e range. Is the Novotel a good choice? Thanks!!!

There are several Novotels in the Nice area including one near the airport in St.Laurent du Var and one in Nice centre. Neither are very near the beach or the main tourist points. Have a look at the hotels near the
Old Town or the Promenade des Anglais (eastern end of)The Grimaldi in Rue Maccarini would be in your price range and near the beach (5 mins)and bus station (via the tram)or walkable in about 10mins.

The last post mentioned the Grimaldi which is centrally located in the %26quot;composers%26quot; district and I would add in the same district the Windsor, Villa Victoria, Les Cignales and perhaps the Gounod. All would be in your price range and the Windsor and Villa Victoria have garden courts to relax in after a day around the town.

Check out the accorhotels.com web site and look at the Mercure Promenade des Anglais. Sometimes that hotel offers senior rates, and it%26#39;s in a great location. Rooms are a good size, with modern bathrooms, and were renovated about 2 years ago. We never heard any room noise.

A vote for Le Grimaldi.

or Hotel Suisse, but then you would have a walk to the bus and train station.

Thanks to all!!
