Bordeaux to Pauillac and Libourne (Thanks!)

More questions on traveling in Bordeaux. Me and my friend is traveling from Paris to Bordeaux for 2 days and 1 night. We will first arrival in Bordeaux by TGV and switch to Pauillac, and bike around the town. Then we will travel back to our hotel in Libourne, and from Libourne to Pauillac. My questions are:

1) I heard about there is a bus from Bordeaux to Pauillac, do anyone know where to take, and how long does it take?

2) In Pauillac, where should I visit, I means places can be reach by bike.

Thanks.

I was in Bordeaux and the Medoc area (and Libourne) myself two weeks ago..

There are buses and trains from Bordeaux city centre to Pauillac.

Trains run about every 1 or 2 hours on weekdays. Note that the timetable changes on 1st September;timetable at

fewer trains at weekends. Journey from Bordeaux St Jean is about 75 minutes, from Ravezies just less than an hour. You8 can take bikes on the trains.

The station called Ravezies is to the north of the Bordeaux city centre and may be more convenient if you are already there, as the Gare St Jean is a little out of the central area.

Bus number 705 runs from Bordeaux to Pauillac about every 2 hours on weekdays, less often on weekends. The run takes about 90 minutes and the bus leaves from the RAVEZIES station mentioned earlier. That would entail taking a tram from St Jean railway station through the city centre to Ravezies.

Timetables can be seen at www.citram.fr

Citram also runs the buses between Bordeaux and Libourne (route 301 and 302); www.ter-sncf.com/aquitaine will give you the train times between Bordeaux and Libourne.

There is a good map of the buses and tram connections within the city centre of Bordeaux at www.infotbc.com

Pauillac is in the centre of one the premier wine growing areas of France. I am not a wine buff, but I am sure someone can point you to a chateau or two worth visiting. There are many bike trails in the area - I was further north in the Medoc and used them a lot during my stay to explore the woods and the Gironde riverbanks.

Note that all the websites mentioned are in French only.

Enjoy your trip - it is very pleasant area.
