taxi Avignon TGV to L'Isle sur la Sorgue

Any ideas how much it would cost for a taxi from Avignon TGV station to L%26#39;Isle sur la Sorgue around 20.30hrs on a Saturday?

You might try contacting this taxi service out of Avignon. I would imagine the fare would not be cheap.

Mappy puts the distance from the station to Isle sur la Sorgue at 29.50 kms, with a driving time of 31 minutes.

As a comparison, the village where I live is 44 kms from the TGV, with 50 minutes drive time and the cost of a taxi (last year) was 75 euros one way. It can vary depending upon time of day too.

Thank you. I will look into hiring a car instead. Was looking at taxis as we arrive at Avignon out of office hours and same on return journey.

I could be wrong, but I think the rental car agencies, outside the TGV station are open later than 20:30, but it may depend upon day of week. I would think Saturday it would be open later.

This link gives you a list of which rental agencies are located at the Gare TGV Avignon. It notes the hours of most all other services, but not the car rental agencies, so you will have to go to each website individually to check.

Thank you for your help will investigate car rental further.

Generally, on a Saturday evening all of the Avignon rental offices are closed except those at the TGV station which remain open until 9pm. The in town offices close at 5pm, the airport offices close at 7:30pm

Depending upon how long you need to stay in Isle sur la Sorgue, a taxi may be cheaper than a rental car, particularly for periods of fewer than 3-4 days.

I was pretty sure I remembered taking some friends to pick up a car around 9:30 pm, but I%26#39;d still call them to make sure the hours are correct.

Sarastro is right about the cost. If you only need the car for one 24 hour period, it may cost more than a one way taxi.

Here are the hours of Hertz at Avignon TGV. They do close on Saturdays at 9 pm.

Funny how they are open later on Sunday than Saturday. I guess due to turning in cars at the end of a weekend rental..

And the hours change after Nov. 1, 2008, but not for Saturdays, still closes at 9 pm

Earlier this year I got a quote for a cab for the 17 mile journey from St Remy to l%26#39;Isle sur la Sorgue, and they said 65 euro, one way. No kidding. Admittedly it was a Sunday, but still

Have you checked that no buses run that late? I have been googling but I can%26#39;t find that bus timetable. The last train from Avignon Centre Ville is at 19.30, alas.

|||

Yes bus and trains seem to finish quite early unfortunately.

I will probably go with car rental as we are there for one week so probably works out cheaper than a taxi.

Thanks for everyone%26#39;s help with this query.
