Help with my travel plan please :)

We are planning a trip around France in September. I can%26#39;t tell if I have scheduled to much drive time or if it is doable.

The first day we are going to see Versailles and go to Tours to sleep.

Next day tour the Loire Valley, sleep in Amboise.

3rd day drive to Mt. St. Michel, then drive to Saint Malo in the evening to stay (This is where I am wondering if I have put too much).

4th day - drive to Bayeux and see the beaches, etc.. trying to decide if we should do a tour....

Stay in Bayeux and back to paris for the rest of our trip.

I am wondering if I have put too much on the 3rd day and if we can get from St. Malo to Bayeux early enough for a tour. Should we just skip St. Malo and stay right by MSM?

Thank you for any input!

If you are arriving the morning of the first day on a trans Atlantic flight, I highly recommend you do not drive that day. Fatigue is an important contributor to accidents, particularly on unfamiliar roads.

Generally, you have proposed an itinerary which should take from 7 to 10 days. If you have only 3-4 days in which to explore either Normandy or the Loire Valley, I recommend you choose only one of these two areas. The distances you are trying to cover are simply too great to be done in the allocated time frame. You could for instance take the TGV from CDG to either Tours or Bayeux on your arrival day and pickup a rental car the next morning.

Sarastro%26#39;s right, you%26#39;re trying to do way too much in the time available. Personally I would suggest Bayeux, the beaches and Mont St Michel in the time frame you are suggesting. If you wanted to push yourself then MAYBE Versailles as well, although do you realise how big Versailles Palace is? It can take a whole day 9-5 just to visit the palace and gardens. But to try and do a trip to the Loire as well is just too much. Either do the Loire Valley or Normandy but definitely not both, not in 3-4 days.

I endorse what the others say.

We had friends to stay last week, at St SAUVEUR LE VICOMTE

They took a train up from PARIS on Day 1, took a DDay tour, stayed over, than we went down to Mont St Michel on Day 2, they took a train back from Villedieu de Poeles to PARIS and drove out to Versailles on Day 3.

They had to choose between the Tapestry and MSM but if you have 4 days that won%26#39;t be a problem.

There%26#39;s a fast train back to PARIS around 18.30 from BAYEUX.

Driving in France is easy, but the distances are quite long.

Keep one thing in mind if you want to do a tour of the D-Day beaches. Most companies will want you to stay the night before the tour in the town the tour leaves from, because they tend to leave fairly early. This is atleast what we have found booking our upcoming tour.

CDB tours will pick up from stations/hotels when you arrive in Normandy, no worries about arriving the night before.

A train from St Lazare around 7am will get you to Bayeux around 9.15.
