Lovely hotel nr Avignon - Le Prieure

I have been meaning to write this up for ages and have only just got around to doing it. My husband - who is slightly disabled and I bought a 3 night luxury link package (1st time) to this lovely converted medieval priory in a village just out side of Avignon called Villeneuve Les Avignon.

We went in early March and arrived in the midst of the Mistral! Nearly blown over by 110k winds - very difficuly walk to the small airport where we had to wait outside freezing until the airport decided to open their doors and let us in.

Fortunately we arranged a pick up through the hotel - they use a local taxi firm, who were really helpful. We used them on several occasions.

Arrived at gorgeous looking old stone building in the village centre - you drive through Avignon and up a hill and over a bridge ( not the one in the rhyme) any way we were shown to a stunning room with a balcony overlooking a pool and grounds in another annexe - very modern bathroom, separate sitting room and gorgeous bedroom. Some wine was in the room and some petit fours.

The package included dinner - about 6 courses ( with choices) and the food was delicious, the waiting staff were very friendly and helful.

The reception staff also could not be more charming or helpful - arranging taxi%26#39;s and answering enquiries etc. I really recommend this place and the village - , I loved the decor - Modern Provencal style/ chic but very comfortable. There is a nice market in the town some mornings - also lots of little shops and restaurants. It is probably better to go in May for example - you can then make use of the pool.

I hope to visit again in the future.

Fully agree with your comments. Although we didn%26#39;t stay here we enjoyed two memorable lunches at the beginning and end of our recent ten days in Provence. Both were highlights of our trip and excellent value. The village is a delight with many artisan shops for last minute buys before heading home.

I%26#39;m considering staying either at Le Prieure or La Mirande during my October trip, tough decision!

Is Le Prieure far from the town area?

If you mean far from the town of Villeneuve les Avignon, no, it is within easy walking distance, as it is in the old part of Villenueve itself.
