Questions on Lorie Valley

I am planning in visiting those chateaus in Lorie Valley during my time in Paris.

I have checked the Eurorail wed site and I am confused. I can’t FOUND the station there?!?! Does anyone know how do I get there from Paris to Lorie Valley? Also, any suggestions on which chateau is a MUST see? Thanks.

If you mean the Loire Valley, then one option is to take the TGV train from Paris Montparnasse to St Pierre des Tours, which is on the eastern edge of Tours.

There are a lot of Stations in the Loire valley. The Loire river is 900km long, so looking for a station called %26quot;the Loire Valley%26quot; would be similar to looking for a station called %26quot;the Colorado River%26quot;.

The main towns for the western part of the Loire Valley (where the majority of the chateaux are) are Blois, Tours and Angers. Of these, Tours is probably the quickest to get to by train; the stations you want are either Tours or St Pierre des Corps.

Of the Chateaux, the must sees are Chenonceaux, Villandry (but only for the garden), Cheverny and Chambord.

To get to Chenonceau from Tours, the train goes from Tours to Chenonceaux and stops right outside the gates. To get from Tours to Villandry by public transport is difficult but not impossible outside of the July/August peak.

Cheverny and Chambord are closer to Blois (which also has a fine chateau).

Adding to the excellent advice above, the Office de Tourisme in Tours has a list of tours available:

Or try a car and driver:

It%26#39;s not like I want to put you off from going to the Loire Valley, which is one of my most favourite bits of France.

However, from your original posting, it sounds as though you are planning day-trips out of Paris, rather than a trip down to the Loire, staying there for a few days, and travelling in the local area.

The Loire is a fair distance from Paris, you would need several day-trips to cover all the Chateaux that people have mentioned, which would be both tiring, and costly IMO.

My suggestion is that you consider visiting the Chateaux that are closer to Paris, namely:

Versailles

Chantilly

Fontainebleu

much easier to do these on day-trips.

OR spend a few days down in the Loire, say at Blois, which is well positioned for visiting the Chateaux that have been mentioned, plus having a great Chateau of it%26#39;s own.

Whatever you decide to do, I hope it works out, and I hope that you have a great time.
