TGV tickets

Hi all

I am heading to Paris next week for 8 days and then want to head down to Provence on the TGV. I have checked out buying tickets on line but is doesn%26#39;t seem to be an option if you live in Australia. Has any one done this? Can you buy them an pick them up when you get to France? Should I wait until I get there or does it get more expensive. Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

Yes. You can buy the tickets at SNCF online. You can pick up the tickets at a train station kiosk when you arrive. If you get a discounted fare, PREM, then you have the option to print them out yourself. However, I believe if you choose to purchase insurance for the tickets then you can%26#39;t print them.

You can indeed - and we reserved on line and picked them up at the station at Paris Charles de Gaulle when we arrived. (Make sure you have the credit card you use to book!). I%26#39;d recommend doing it that way, though if you%26#39;re not able to get a cheap fare, you might as well wait until you arrive.

Good luck - and enjoy the contrast with Oz!

Thanks so much for your replies. I have just found an Aussie travel service that books TGV tickets and I can pick them up from here before I leave...which I feel a bit safer about.

This is my first trip to Paris and I am beside myself with excitement :)

The best option is to purchase rail tickets online, 90 days in advance of departure. This gives you the best price and seat availability. Look for PREM fares which end 7-10 days before any given departure date. These fares are limited so check now:

It does not make any difference where you live. You can pick up the tickets at any SNCF customer service window giving the purchase locater number and the credit card used in executing the transaction.

Do a forum search for MorganB%26#39;s SNCF rail guide if you have any problems with the website.
