Is Nice secure ?

I%26#39;ve heard some purse snatching stories that happened in Nice. Is it a real problem ? Is it as serious a problem as in Barcelona ? We will be in Nice in early October and will have to take a train at 6:30 AM to go to Paris. We will stay at Hotel Felix. Is it a long walk to the train station ? S Or should we better take a taxi at that early hour ?

Thanks for your advise.

Just be aware of your surroundings and take care when using an ATM machine. It%26#39;s not really a big problem.

hi travelcraze6,

just got back from nice yesterday, well would like to tell you a story.

well, took all the usual precations.seasoned traveler and all that jazz, went up on the tram to the market at liberation, had a great time there, had a coffee, got a tram back to old town....

well i got on the tram with wallet.....

got off with out it...!!!!

ok, only a few euros in wallet, this time!!!. so i just got away with it. as all advice says, only carry what you need.

i didn`t feel a thing...

the tram was very crowded and i usually keep away from crowds...

dont let this put you off Nice, its a good place to visit and i can say i have felt safe _ but with the usuall precations.

if you go - have fun.

Nice is no worse than any other large cities, just be careful like in any other cities. Never felt unsecure aftermore than a dozen stays.

Thanx dave for that up to date experience. Certainly opened my eyes and I have been to Nice recently without incident.I%26#39;m sorry ymca but that is a futile comment. Nobody feels threatend there until after they have been robbed! And if you think NIce is bad-just avoid Barcelona.
