Toll roads Paris to Caen?

I read on a post about Bayeux that driving from Paris to Bayeux there are a number of tolls. Is that also true driving from Paris to Caen? Will we need cash for the tolls?

Using the autoroutes the tolls between Paris and Caen will be 20 Euros according to www.viamichelin.com. You could always use non-toll roads but the trip would take considerably longer as you%26#39;d be going through the towns and typically driving on two-lane roads where traffic can be an issue. As far as payment, we always make sure to have plenty of euros, generally in coins, which makes getting through the toll stations pretty fast. Don%26#39;t know if credit cards are accepted.

Yes, credit cards are accepted at all toll booths.

However, with your American cards, I am not sure it is a good idea to use the automated credit card only lanes at the toll booth (they are marked CB, standing for Carte Bancaire). French credit cards have chips, and that can present problems for cards without chips. Go to the manned booths, and there they will take non chip cards OK.

I have used my Visa and MasterCard credit cards without any problem.

Yeah, sometimes US cards don%26#39;t work on the autoroutes. It%26#39;s best to have euro coins handy. Use www.viamichelin.com to plan your route. It gives different route choices by mileage, time and costs, including the toll booth locations and amounts required. Also tells where speed cameras are located.

Visa and Mastercard work on tolls and restaurants and hotels. American express on the other hand doesn%26#39;t do nicely sir.

Cean is on the way to Bayeux. From Caen to bayeux the road is toll free. You can also go from Caen to Mont St Michel Toll free.
