Top Hotels in Paris

I am travelling from Brazil to Paris for honeymoon in Dec/2008.

I am analyzing a few hotels for this very special moment. Assuming that they would cost the same, what would be the best hotel to stay among these choices:

- Ritz Paris

- The Crillon

- Four Seaons George V

- Plaza Athenee

- The Bristol

Also, this is my first time in Paris and I would like to ask for advices on %26quot;must-go%26quot; restaurants (although I know there are plenty of them...) and also some places for wine lovers.

Thanks!!!

Hi --

To me, the Ritz is the outstanding leader, the original luxury hotel - the source of the English word Ritzy, and all that implies. Cesar Ritz set the standard for luxury and service and subsequent owners have maintained that standard quite well.

The other hotels are all equals, and very near seconds. You could reserve in any one of them and have a great experience.

I expect that none of these hotels%26#39; rates drops below €600 and may actually rise above that, but for the best, one must expect to pay handsomely.

There is no magic answer. This is depending on what you like: more English style (Ritz), more glamour and also more rockstars (Plaza), more distinguished (Bristol), more individual (George V). The Crillon will close soon for complete refurbishment and I would rather stay there after they re-open... All 5 of them will provide a great experience, no worry.

There are plenty of must-go restaurants and I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;ll get advice on this.

There are many wine stores in Paris. There is a shop with a huge choice - they say they are the biggest - called Lavinia. What I like there is that you can buy your wine in the scellars and have it in the restaurant upstairs. Food is not exceptional, but wine could be. It is facing the Olympia theatre, between place de la Madeleine and the Opera Garnier.

Your choices are all Right Bank hotels--have you considered anything on the Left Bank? There are some beautiful boutique choices on the Left bank, such as the Relais Christine and the D%26#39;Aubusson that are less expensive than these grand Right bank hotels, but so charming and romantic. How many nights will you stay in Paris? You might be interested in the money savings--or if you%26#39;re staying there long enough, you might be interested in having both a Right Bank and Left Bank experience.

Try the Hotel Nepoleon. Half a block from the Champs and Arc. Family hotel since 1924. E.Flynn, J. Baker, and O. Wells were frequent guests. Old world class. Obtain specifics by viewing their web site.

Don%26#39;t rule out La Reserve. The best play to stay in Paris. The 3 star restaurants have web sites and usually the wine list can be found somewhere.
