This is my first time in Paris and during the day we want to experience all the touristy things and at night, we%26#39;re looking for nightlife. I%26#39;ve heard that the Champs location is great for tourists but that they roll the streets up at night and that St. Germaine has more of a local feel and a good nightlife. The hotels are The Keppler vs Le Regent. I%26#39;m leaning toward the nicer hotel but will we be missing out on a better location in St. Germaine at the Le Regent?

I don%26#39;t know the Keppler, but it looks lovely. I have stayed at Le Regent on rue Dauphine and can tell you that their standard rooms are small. You may want to consider one of their deluxe rooms.
I have stayed in the St. Germain area over many years and over 15 times. This area is charming and great for nightlife, restaurants, boutique shopping, cafes, etc. as well as its historical points of interest. I particularly like being able to walk back to my hotel after dinner and/or the evening activity. There really isn%26#39;t much happening at night around the area in which the Keppler is located, although the rooms and the hotel in general look very pretty.
If you get a superior/deluxe room at Le Regent, you may end up with the best of both worlds.

we stood at the hilton arch de triomphe and were able to walk to the champs elysees. Definately worth getting the club level as they had five full food presentations a day and they have suites with terraces overlooking the eiffel tower. Beautiful hotel and very conveniently located.

Would definitely recommend Saint-Germaine over Champs. If it%26#39;s upscale you want SG has many beautiful hotels.

whatever hotel you decide on, really think about paying for the club floor, depending on the hotel, you can really save a bunch of money if you have a club floor that includes drinks and breakfast. It worked out real well for us in Paris because by the time we left thehotel in the morning we were all stuffed and only really needed a light lunch and then we had a nice dinner. Food is not cheap in Paris.

Think LOCATION...LOCATION...LOCATION. Take a look at any decent street map of Paris and the relative locations of the sites, attractions, places and things about Paris that interest and attract you most?? Odds are you%26#39;ll find that the Champs Élysées isn%26#39;t especially %26#39;central%26#39;. The neighborhoods of the 1er--Louvre/Tuilleries and 4eme--lower-Marais/Îles on the Right Bank and the upper-6eme--Saint Germain des Prés on the Left Bank (on either Bank, the closer to the Seine the better).
If you want both hotel amenities and location, there are any number of hotels in the upper-6eme that can provide it...as well as be in closer proximity/easy strolling walking distances of the places and things you came to Paris for.
