bicycling near Nice

Does anyone know of a good area for bicyling around Nice for advanced beginner level? (No Mt Ventoux)

and the easiest way to find out about bicycle rentals in France?

The tour companies I%26#39;ve found via the internet seem to be a bit pricey??
