First Timer

This is my first time coming to Europe. My daughter willbe working in the Hague for a year and I will go ith her to set up and spend 3 weeks. We will come to Paris for a week before she starts work hopefully to spend end or December and New Year%26#39;s Eve in Paris. We need something safe and not too expensive for a hotel. What is a must see? Please help us.

%26quot;Must See%26quot; is in the eyes of the beholder.

Do you really like museums?

Or do you hate museums?

Are you a gourmand, or do you like your food simple and cheap?

Your answers are important, because it%26#39;s hard for us to know what appeals to you.

Have you read a guidebook on Paris? Most of them will offer lists of things like %26quot;The Top 10 Most Visited Sites%26quot; and that sort of thing. Are the Top 10 Most Visited Sites in Paris really %26quot;must sees%26quot;? Not for me, and I%26#39;ve been to Paris 10 times, and there are some things that I%26#39;ve never seen and have no interest in seeing.

Similarly, if I asked you what was a %26quot;must see%26quot; in New Orleans, you might make suggestions that I%26#39;d love...or that would have no appeal whatsoever.

Last, what%26#39;s your hotel budget? To make a recommendation, we%26#39;d need to know what you want to spend...

I love museums, fine food and wine. I also guess we would want to see the tourist sites since its both our first time. I also love going to place to eat that the locals go. I guess around $200 0r less a night for lodging. It doesn%26#39;t have to be fancy just safe and clean.

For a first-timer, I recommend Rick Steves%26#39; Paris. He%26#39;s not everyone%26#39;s cup of tea but twhe book is loaded with practical advice to enable you to be comfortable on your own.
