France first time, 6 nights - what to do?

My girlfriend and I will be arriving in France for 6 nights early January. We will be coming from a week in London.

This is our first time in France and are on a strict budget.

Whats the best way (cheapest) to get from London to Paris?

We need somewhere to stay in Paris, looking for clean and private facilities, keeping in mind we are on a strict budget. What location and what hotel???

We are heading to Italy next so we thought maybe 4 nights in Paris and 2 nights somewhere else, preferably south france, any suggestions, if so, can you name a hotel?

Also, would like a few ideas of things to do in Paris and the second destination (2 nights). Not really into the art scene, but love shows, adventure trips and anything a little different (keeping in mind our strict budget). also love anythign to do with being on the water.

Any suggestion about transfers from the air / train station (depending on which is cheaper) to our hotel would be realy apprecieated.

For cheap and clean in the south of France, try the Best Western in Beaulieu sur Mer. It is easy to get to Beaulieu sur Mer from Nice by train, and easy to get into Italy also via train.

The water is on your doorstep - take the walk to St Jean Cap Ferrat.
