Hi all!!
We%26#39;re a bunch of friends going to France at nearing end of September. I really want to experience biking past lavender fields can anyone tell me if there is lavender blooming at the time? And if yes which part of France should we go to as I checked out on the net it says lavender blooms at the time in the south of Provence is that true? Should we also be joining a day local tour or biking around ourselves would be simple enough?
I%26#39;m also concerned about language problems there do they speak English? Especially for a place further away from Paris.

I am sorry to have to give you some bad news but late September is about seven or eight weeks too late to see lavender blooming anywhere in France. Unfortunately, the Provencal lavender fields will pretty much all have been harvested by early August.
While there are many people in Provence who do speak some English, it will be extremely helpful if you learn some simple words/phrases such as: please, thank you, hello, goodby, how much is this...?, etc. There are any number of small French Phrase books that you might want to check out at your local bookstore prior to your departure. Choose the one that you feel most at ease with and take it with you everywhere you go. Without a doubt, I think that you will find that having a phrase book will be just as useful while you are in Paris as it will be while you are in Provence.
